The people who manage Cafe des Amis and Cafe Mauresque have put in a planning application to turn an empty building in Orange Street into 'Le Boudoir', an upmarket 'bistro lounge' that would have an emphasis on food and coffee in the daytime and relaxed drinking in the evening (drinks in continental style 'demis' rather than pints, over 21s only, "no alcopops!").
All sounds like a marvellous idea to us. Anyway the application number is CA//06/01136 and we'll be keeping an eye out for how the City Council responds.
ADDITIONAL: The planning committee meets on 10 October to decide.

Planning permission has been granted on this - it'll be allowed to open 9am-11pm Mon-Thu, 9am-midnight Fri-Sat, 10am-10pm Sunday/Bank Holidays.

Went past Le Boudoir on wednesday and it has opened. apparently opened last weekend. looks very nice if maybe a little small. Not been in yet so cant comment on whats it like!

I went past it last night. I didn't go in, but I looked through the window and had a look at the menu in the window. It looks very open and relaxed. Contemporary type setting, and they're obviously aiming upmarket - they have four champagnes on the menu. So that's three champagne bars in Canterbury now ;-) Seeya James |
