Anyone been to the byte (might be bite) bar down where fast buck freddies used to be? It seems u order food and drinks via touch screens plus each table has its own television.

Hey
I hadn't noticed that place yet. I'll have to get into town at the weekend and check it out (sometime between football and formula-1... mmmm could be tough!)
Would you say it is more a restaurant/food place than a pub?

yes after having another look i would say they are trying to make it more of a food place than a bar. shame cos the concept was quite a good idea just for a bar.

I still haven't been westgate end of town to check it out. So much for roving reporters :-)

Well, I've been in there now... and can honestly say it wasn't really worth it.
Their main claim to fame is that they have computer screens next to each table. From here you can order from the menu, but you still have to yell over for a waitress if you want anything different about any of the orders.
The computer has got some games on it which you can play after you have ordered: Windows Solitaire, Windows Minesweeper, a who-wants-to-be-a-millionnaire clone, and a sliding block puzzle. The millionnaire clone wasn't registered so stopped working after 10 questions. Fantastic!
We ordered a starter and a main course at lunch time. The starter wasn't cooked properly, and was sent back. The main course was ok but not really worth the money.
Overall it's an interesting idea but poorly executed. If everyone else's experience is like mine then they won't be open for very long!
